The Kite Ranch is an official BEST KITEBOARDING SCHOOL and all lessons are taught by PASA (Professional Air Sports Association) certified instructors. HOW IT WORKS
Lessons typically begin at 11am depending on wind conditions. We offer various levels of instruction to better suit your individual needs. Whether you are new to Kiteboarding or an intermediate Kiter looking to polish your kiting skills The Kite Ranch can help take your kite skills to the next level. At The Kite Ranch, we only use BEST Kiteboarding equipment for all of our school gear. Students only fly the latest and greatest kites and boards BEST has to offer. Each season The Kite Ranch buys new equipment for our students to ensure your saftey and give you cofidence when flying!

Level 1: Trainer Kite Lesson
We will cover kite setup, how the wind window works, basic flying techniques, power strokes and other kiteboarding topics that apply.
Cost: $50 per person – 1 Hour Lesson 2 person minimum – 6 person maximum
Level 2: Dry Land Lesson
After you have progressed from Level 1 you are now ready to fly The BEST Kahoona inflatable kite. The BEST Kahoona is super stable, easy to fly and auto relaunches with ease. During Dry Land Lessons you will learn basic kiteboarding fundamentals. Topics include kite rigging and setup, all safety aspects, launching, landing, flying and foot dragging, depowering and everything else you need to progress your skills to hit the water.
Cost: $200 per person – 3 Hour Lesson
Level 3: Board Skills
Once you perfected your kite skills its time to move onto a board skill lesson. In this lesson we will cover basic board skills. Topics include board techniques, water starts, riding toe edge, riding heal edge, transitions and everything you need in order to kiteboard. Board Skills are completed with full jet-ski support and safety equipment.
Cost: $50 per person – 1 Hour Lesson
*Note – Students must complete Level 1 through Level 3 prior to progressing to the next level. If all 3 levels have not been completed with us, students must prove that they possess the skills and knowledge covered in these lessons before they hit the water.
Level 4: Kiteboarding 101
Once you’ve mastered the kite and board skills you are now ready to hit the water. In this lesson we will cover everything you need to get you up and riding! Topics include self rescue techniques, body dragging, body dragging up wind, deep water starts, kiting down wind, kiting up wind and everything else you need in order to become a kiteboarder.
Cost: $250 per person – 3 Hour Lesson
The Complete Package:
Level 1 through Level 4. The Complete Package includes Level 1 through Level 4 in a one day lesson. We will cover trainer kite lessons, dry land lessons, board skills and kiteboarding 101. The Complete Package includes full jet-ski support.
Cost: $450 per person – Best Bang for the Buck! Approximate duration 5 Hours
Advanced Kiteboarding Lessons:
Private Instruction/Advanced lessons are taught on a 1-on-1 basis and are designed by the student with your instructors input. We will cover anything the student wants to cover, topics can include jumping, advanced transition techniques, advanced kite techniques and maneuvers and tricks. Lesson includes full jet-ski support
Cost: $100 an hour per person – 2 Hour minimum
Supervised Chase Session:
We simply provide you with full support during your session so you can ride! Supervised sessions include full jet-ski support, assist you with launching and landing your kite and act as your chase vehicle. Kiters must supply their own gear.
Cost: $60 per hour – 2 Hour minimum
Fantasy Session:
Need a certified instructor you can trust, but can’t make it to Lake McConaughy? Let The Kite Ranch come to you at a location of your choice. The Kite Ranch now offers fantasy sessions at a location of your choice. Our certified instructors will meet you at a destination of your choice and give you the type of instruction you deserve! From beginner lessons to advanced lessons, The Kite Ranch will work with you to make your kiting dreams come true!
